2010 is a year of National elections in the Republic of The Philippines. Will Erap or the well seasoned man who stands for the real interests and genuine concerns of the poor become the old-new standard bearer? The Elite-Class who was in charge of the administration over the past two terms failed to do enough to uplift the lives of the poor. Lack of education, which is the number one problem hindering young Filipino men and women preparing themselves to be valuable contributors to the betterment not only of themselves and their loved ones but to the entire human family,  has not been combated and reduced by the last administration of the elite-class.

Will not Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and her administration share the same fate like George W. Bush? The two have too much in common, and both will have left office with a record that makes it even harder for the successor to do what the people deserve, namely “to uplift the lives of the masses (the poor) through good governance”.

Where shall this adorable country composed of more than 7000 island pearls go during the next administration? Can the rich and greedy who failed do something better for the 95% of all people in their country? Or does it need “one of them”, who knows how they feel, how they worry, how they suffer because of lack of resources to make their lives more worthy of Life?

Erap para sa mahirap or Erap for the poor stands for the great heart of a man who suffered enough to understand the hearts of the poor. Without this understanding can one honestly say “I know what they want, I know what they need, and I’m doing everything I can to give it to them”? – Last time someone did this, the greediness and envy caused them to say “He is a plunderer” like they said of his master “he is a winebibber and a glutton, and the publicans and sinners are his friends”…

Now, the record tells no lies. Looking back a decade, where was the country then? And looking today, one hardly can count all the figures comprising the national debt of the Philippines. They still have rampant corruption and it is counted among the most dangerous countries for free journalism. More than 50% of all the journalists who were killed in the Philippines are accounted to the Macapagal Arroyo administration. Who were these journalists? and were they more comfortable to the Elite-class or to the poor?

How was a democratic elected president and a national superstar, one who himself came from the masses, was elected by the masses and was governing too short a time for the welfare of the masses, yeah, a national hero whose late mother was blessed by Almighty God with a long life of more than a century, a president for the people who won a historical landslide victory and one against which the elite-class around Macapagal Arroyo had no chance to compete as presidential candidate back then, to be overthrown and removed from the elite so they could grab power themselves and satisfy their greed? How could they possibly grab power from him and against the poor who elected him to be their “father of the nation”?

Did anybody not hear of the world-famous “hello Garci” tapes (where the public could hear Gloria Macapacal-Arroyo calling the highest election official and begging him to help her win the election because she was about to lose against the late Fernando Poe Junior “FPJ” who happened to be a very dear friend of presidential candidate Erap? Was it legal or moral for that elite class president to do something which is strictly prohibited by the law, namely to call an election official during elections asking him to let her win and not democracy? Yeah, the tapes went public and everybody who understands Tagalog could hear them and understand them.

Then came this famous tv appearance of the elite-class president where she publicly wanted to apologize for her braking of the law and saying “I’m so sorry”. How could she hold her position, against the law and against the will of the people? – She was an elite-class member and she just could not let democracy win because if democracy had won, it would have been her personal loss. Is it not surprising how she managed to use the power she took on herself to escape at least three impeachment-complaints even though there was so much evidence to prove her wrong-doings?

What happened before that, when she was a vice-president standing only one step below the highest post of power? How could she take that position against one who is one of a kind with a large majority of the population? Was not this the chance to plot and go about the secret conspiracy? Democracy, what does that mean?

Yeah, this coming election is a fight between the elite-class around the Macapagal Arroyo administration and the poor. The poor, like David with his sling, move forward under the wings of the Philippine Eagle “Agilang Pilipino” to fight goliath, or like Manni Pacman went out to fight the big star of the game and became a national sports hero…

Is Erap or the man who according to the best educated minds is the most suitable among all candidates to become the next standard bearer of the Republic of the Philippines agains the poor or is he for them? Erap para sa mahirap is a fact and there’s nobody who could say otherwise. Now, because they could not say otherwise, what should they do to satisfy their own selfishness and mad ambition, the mad ambition to not let one take over who is the love of the poor? Or great master said, “and blessed are you when they accuse you falsely and speak all manner of evil against you and lies about you falsely”…
